What is Muscle Activation Techniques?

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is a unique muscular evaluation system designed to analyze, treat and correct muscular imbalances.

MAT has been proven to be very successful in determining and treating the true cause of pain, tightness and muscular dysfunction.

MAT is designed to:

  • Correct muscular imbalances
  • Stop pain and muscular dysfunction at its roots
  • Restore body alignment
  • Eliminate week muscular links
  • Increase flexibility with stability
  • Rid the body of muscular compensation patterns
  • Dramatically improve the functional capabilities of the body
  • Prepare the body for physical activity
  • Reduce the risk of injury
  • Speed muscle recovery
  • Make sure muscle system is working at its most optimal level

How can MAT help you?

Whether you are a professional athlete, fitness enthusiast, active or sedentary individual dealing with muscular pain and tightness or just want to physically perform at your optimal level, MAT can help. MAT has been incorporated into the treatment programs of professional sports teams such as the: Denver Broncos and Nuggets, Utah Jazz and the New York Giants. The sports teams have found that MAT cuts down on injuries and makes the body stronger and more stable.

How MAT works?

MAT works by increasing the proprioceptive abilities of the central nervous system (CNS), which restores the capability of the muscles to contract. When there is diminished communication between the muscles and the CNS neurological muscle, weakness begins. This leads to muscle tightness, muscular imbalance, compensation patterns, pain and injury.

One of the most important concepts of MAT is that muscle tightness is a secondary symptom of muscle weakness. When a muscle has become compromised due to overuse, stress, or trauma, it makes the joint or joints around those muscles unstable. The muscles will then tighten up because the body is trying to protect itself from a position of weakness or instability. The body is a great compensator; it will not allow motion it can’t control. MAT identifies and addresses the components of muscle weakness. Corrective procedures (precision palpation and isometric excesses) are then used to neurologically strengthen weak muscles, and restore mobility with stability to the body. This eliminates muscular pain, tightness, weakness, compensation and potential injury.
